Participants of Salihara Acting Class 2018 will learn the “Stanislavski System”, a method of acting developed by Konstantin Stanislavski (1863-1938). The Stanislavski system is important to learn if we want to approach acting from a realist angle; it is useful not just for actors but also for everyone navigating the everyday life.

Salihara Acting Class 2018 is open to the public regardless of acting experience or background. The program is divided into two classes: Level 1 for new participants, and Level 2 for Level 1 participants from the previous year. After 22 sessions, selected participants will get the opportunity to take part in live reading of a drama or in a theater performance at Teater Salihara.

Mentor of Salihara Acting Class 2018 is the actor and director, Rukman Rosadi. At the helm of Saturday Acting Club Yogyakarta, he has directed many plays, such as the dance-theater collaboration with California Art Institute and UCLA California, A Cup of Java (2009); as well as Holocaust Rising (2008-2011); The Queen and the Rebels (2012); The Art of Improvisation (2016), which received Kelola Innovative Art Grant; Hedda Gabler (2017); etc.

In addition to his theaterwork, he has also appeared in feature-length films such as Negeri Tanpa Telinga (2014), Istirahatlah Kata-Kata (2016) and Ziarah (2017). In addition, Rukman Rosadi also lectures in acting at the Theater Department, Performing Arts Faculty, Institut Seni Indonesia, Yogyakarta.
