Ki Enthus Susmono—a puppeteer known for integrating traditional wayang with contemporary developments—this time will present the classic story “Dewa Ruci” in a unique wayang performance which he calls Wayang Rai Wong or Wayang Opera.
Cockpit Band was established in Jakarta in 1980 by Dadan Muchtar, Izal, Oding Nasution, Yaya Moektio, and Joseph Martam.
Two pieces by Nina Marthavia: Geurangsang and Woe (Homecoming) will be presented in this performance. Geurangsang illustrates some of the trials in life that women of Aceh experience, in the forms of injustice, violence, harassment and attacks on their dignity.
This is the third program in the series Indonesian Literature Today Forum, featuring poets and prose writers from East Java. This region covers the urban landscape, agrarian rural backlands, and Islamic pesantren-heavy areas that may enrich the literary treasures. Curator Arif Bagus Prasetyo, who himself is a poet and art writer, selects the writers who are mostly newcomers in Indonesian literary scene.
Shadow Puppets is a music group comprised of Irsa Destiwi (piano), Robert Mulyarahardja (guitar), Indrawan Tjhin (bass), and Yusuf Shandy Satya (drums). The members first met at a jazz workshop in Jakarta in late 2009 where they found their musical tastes compatible and began to make music together.
