Shadow Puppets is a music group comprised of Irsa Destiwi (piano), Robert Mulyarahardja (guitar), Indrawan Tjhin (bass), and Yusuf Shandy Satya (drums). The members first met at a jazz workshop in Jakarta in late 2009 where they found their musical tastes compatible and began to make music together. Coming from varied backgrounds—Irsa educated in classical music and with experience in the music industry, Robert and Indrawan who have recently graduated from their studies in jazz, and Shandy with his natural talent—Shadow Puppets wants to present a new sound in Indonesia’s music scene. Their compositions come in a variety of styles, starting from unpretentious bebop to music with folk nuances and lots of improvisation. In this concert, Shadow Puppets will perform their own compositions.
